Lylas Makes a Friend Preview "...Makes a Friend" Now!

LYLAS "...MAKES A FRIEND"

Songwriter, Kyle Hamlett, along with his band of folk/pop "sistas," has been a major contributor to Cleft Music even before the label's inception. In this time, Hamlett has grown into his suit of clever and nimble penmanship as the band has grown into a subtle and well oiled music box. A musicphile and longtime student of various songsmiths, Hamlett seamlessly fuses his middle Tennessee roots with the melodic explorations of great pop writers from across the Atlantic.

Like a teenager whose arms are too long for its body, the beginnings of Lylas found Hamlett writing material out pacing his unbridled yet delicate crooning. In 2003, Lylas made its official debut among the Nashville music scene with the mini album, "...Makes a Friend." This first release documents a definitive point in which Hamlett and company came out of the workshop and onto the stage.

"...Makes a Friend" is a collection of old and new. This revealing look at a songwriter developing his craft and a band exploring its sound is indicative of the vulnerable quality to Hamlett's voice and writings. Lylas paints memories of something from long ago that still rest heavy in the heart. There is a wistful, longing to the music that takes you some place familiar but politely excuses itself from the sofa before you can wrap your arms around it.

With a humble debut on the radar, Lylas will be following up "...Makes a Friend" with their first full length project to be finished winter of '04.
